Egypt’s National Day Commemoration in Canberra - 2026

Earlier this week, the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Melbourne was honoured to be represented by His Grace Bishop Rewis and Diocese Clergy, at the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Canberra, to commemorate the 74th Anniversary of the July 1952 Revolution.

His Grace attended at the warm invitation of His Excellency Mr Hani Nagi, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Australia. The distinguished occasion brought together a wide range of diplomatic officials, heads of missions, faith leaders and members of the Australian and Egyptian communities.

Also in attendance were His Grace Bishop Daniel of the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Sydney, Very Rev Fr Toma Boctor and Rev Fr Michael Zamer, both of St Mark’s Church in Canberra.

During the celebration, His Excellency delivered an address highlighting the depth of the longstanding ties between Egypt and Australia and the historic and close relationship connecting the two nations and their peoples. His Excellency also reflected upon the continued growth and strength of the bilateral relationship between Egypt and Australia, founded upon mutual respect, cooperation and friendship.

His Grace Bishop Rewis and our Diocese, extends its sincere gratitude to His Excellency Mr Hani Nagi for the gracious invitation and warm hospitality. We congratulate His Excellency, the Government of Egypt, and all Egyptians - both at home and throughout the diaspora - on this significant national occasion.

May God bless and protect Egypt and her blessed people, granting the nation continued peace, prosperity and unity for generations to come!
